River La Croix, Dominica

Crescent Moon cabins is a unique and serene, naturally inspired environment prepared by your hosts. We are located in the foothills of Morne Trois Pitons National Park, midway between the Melville Hall airport and the capital city Roseau. We are fortunate to have challenging hiking, hidden waterfalls, and explorable ruins all within our valley. We can also make the necessary arrangements for knowledgeable and friendly guides to accommodate your special interests. Dominica's waterfalls, snorkeling coves, and hiking trails are all easily accessible from Crescent Moon Cabins.

Each cabin has a full and a single bed, shower and bathroom facilities. All four cabins have lovely verandahs which over look the Caribbean sea through the rainforest at 1800 feet.We have a private dining area for our guests.

Dinner is $25 and breakfast is $8. We can also provide lunches here or packed for travel.

We have created an eco-sensitive establishment in that we have effectively "recycled" the ruins of the original hotel, building on existing foundations, using local hand-harvested materials within previously landscaped areas. We are fortunate to be situated on Riviere La Croix which provides all of our utility water via a ram pump. On premises, we also have a 100 foot greenhouse for growing our organic produce. We have bush tea and culinary herb gardens all labeled for self guided tours. Our daily chores include roasting and milling coffee grown within our valley, picking and juicing fruits such as passionfruit, carambolas, and oranges, and gathering eggs from our chickens. Our guests are always welcome to participate or study these processes. Our meals are provided from the freshest ingredients and complimented by homemade bread. We also have a complete library of reference material pertaining to Dominica in the fields of history, floriculture, natural healing, birding, architecture, geography and climate, as well as local works of fiction and poetry. All of our neighbors play a role in our services doing trail guiding, educational tours on their farms, or furnishing supplementary produce for the meals, as well as providing transportation. We have been very fortunate to have both visitors and neighbors with ecologically conscious lifestyles. It is a pleasure for us to facilitate this exchange.
