Get Covid Certified TODAY!

The Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA) urges and encourages all accommodations and tourism service providers to get Covid certified in order to participate in the “Safe in Nature Tourism Managed Experience”.

The process of getting certified for “The Safe in Nature Tourism Managed Experience” is not unlike the original process that was implemented at the time of the border opening on Aug 7th. Accommodations are urged to get certified for on-property, land, and/or water-based activities and be a part of the Safe in Nature Tourism Managed Experience. Certification will require 1. (re-)submission of action plans to the Discover Dominica Authority & Environmental Health Dept. along with Approved Land and water-based activity templates. Samples have been developed to assist in guiding the process and submissions for accommodations. See below links for templates.

The Discover Dominica Authority have recommenced training of service providers such as taxi drivers and tour operators to assist with the certification process. The sessions, in collaboration with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), are targeted to increase awareness of covid 19 procedures and best practices while maintaining high service delivery standards that minimize the transmission of the virus.

Discover Dominica Authority’s (DDA) recently launched Safe in Nature program will provide a managed experience to include transportation services to visitors coming from the high-risk classification of countries. As such, taxi service providers who successfully complete the training will be qualified to offer transportation services under the said program.

The DHTA will continue its tireless work in developing Dominica’s tourism industry in these -Covid times, and offers a positive, realistic outlook as we all weather this storm together. Working together we believe that we can successfully get our tourism industry back on track
