Hike Descriptions

Hike 2: Soufriere to Scotts Head

Starting from the road to Gallion, this hike begins with a 15 minute gentle climb on a drivable road that reaches the bottom of the steep climb. The next 45 minutes is a steep climb that will lead to the highest point of the hike. This is a steep climb on an excellent trail but after this ascent the hike is almost all downhill to Scotts Head. After peaking on the mountaintop, the trail continues down through the Old French Quarter which is a spectacular open savannah with views in all directions. This is usually a green pasture but is now very dry.

The Old French Quarter is only accessible via a steep hike, no matter which direction you do the trail so it is not very well known. This is a good area for a rest stop. Following on the right or West side, the trail now continues down to Scotts Head. This is a gentle descent on a good trail that has existed for years as a footpath; you can see some areas with extensive rock walls.

Just before reaching Savanne at the top of Scotts Head you will be passing through an area recently purchased to create luxury villas looking down towards Scotts Head Village and the Atlantic. Continuing down through the village of Scotts Head you will turn left at the bottom to arrive at the Caribantic Building where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean. Food and Drink will be available for purchase here and of course this area is perfect for a sea bath to refresh the body.
